KUKA Robot KRC0275 - ACKN. MOTOR TEMPERATURE <axis number>

ACKN. MOTOR TEMPERATURE <axis number>

A motor temperature sensor on the specified axis has detected a critical temperature exceeding 155 degrees Celsius as reported by the DSE (Drive System Electronics) board. This thermal fault stops robot motion to prevent motor damage and requires immediate cooling.

Common Causes

  • Continuous high-load operation without adequate cooling cycles or dwell periods
  • Blocked or clogged motor cooling fans or ventilation paths in the controller cabinet
  • Ambient temperature in robot cell exceeds design specifications above 40 degrees Celsius
  • Motor bearing friction or internal resistance increased due to wear or lubrication breakdown
  • DSE board temperature sensor malfunction or loose sensor connection on motor winding

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Stop robot operation immediately and allow motor to cool naturally for minimum 30 minutes
  2. 2Measure actual motor temperature using infrared thermometer to verify DSE sensor accuracy
  3. 3Inspect motor cooling fan operation and clean any dust buildup on ventilation grilles
  4. 4Check controller cabinet ambient temperature and verify air conditioning or ventilation is functioning
  5. 5Review recent program execution logs to identify excessive load cycles using KRC diagnostics
  6. 6Replace motor temperature sensor or DSE board if readings remain inconsistent after cooldown
