KUKA Robot KRC0282 - EMT MASTERING DISTANCE EXCEEDED

EMT MASTERING DISTANCE EXCEEDED

This alarm occurs when the axis cannot locate the electronic mastering (EMT) groove within the maximum allowed search distance during the mastering procedure. The axis position is not correctly positioned before the groove prior to initialization, preventing proper axis calibration and referencing.

Common Causes

  • Axis position is too far from the mastering groove location at initialization
  • Mastering groove is damaged, worn, or not properly defined on the encoder disk
  • Encoder or position feedback sensor is malfunctioning or misaligned
  • Incorrect mastering parameters configured in the axis configuration file
  • Motor or drive system fault preventing proper axis movement during mastering search

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power cycle the controller and attempt mastering procedure again to rule out transient errors
  2. 2Verify the axis starting position is within the specified range before the mastering groove using manual jog or position feedback
  3. 3Inspect the encoder disk for visible damage, contamination, or wear on the mastering groove location
  4. 4Check encoder sensor alignment and connections; clean sensor lens if necessary
  5. 5Review axis configuration parameters in the KRC configuration files to ensure mastering distance and offset values are correct
  6. 6If persistent, perform a manual axis reset and recalibration using the KUKA teach pendant mastering function, or contact KUKA support if hardware replacement is suspected
