KUKA Robot KRC0270 - EMT SENSOR FAULTY

EMT SENSOR FAULTY

The EMT (Emergency Stop) sensor is detecting a zero signal output, indicating a loss of proper electrical contact or mechanical connection at the sensor interface. This alarm typically occurs when the sensor connector is loose, corroded, or improperly seated, preventing reliable signal transmission to the KRC controller. The system triggers this fault as a safety measure since the emergency stop circuit cannot be reliably monitored.

Common Causes

  • EMT sensor connector is loose or partially disconnected
  • Sensor connector pins are corroded or oxidized
  • Sensor mounting bracket is loose, causing misalignment
  • Damaged or degraded sensor cabling with poor contact
  • Faulty EMT sensor requiring replacement

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power down the robot controller and verify safe lockout/tagout procedures are in place
  2. 2Visually inspect the EMT sensor connector for loose connections, corrosion, or debris and reseat firmly if applicable
  3. 3Clean connector pins with an appropriate electrical contact cleaner and allow to dry completely
  4. 4Check the EMT sensor mounting bracket and tighten all fasteners to ensure proper sensor alignment and contact pressure
  5. 5Inspect the sensor cable for visible damage, kinks, or pinching along its entire length from sensor to controller input
  6. 6If alarm persists after mechanical checks, perform a controller diagnostic test or replace the EMT sensor with an OEM equivalent component
