KRC0074

KUKA Robot KRC0074 - HARDWARE LIMIT SWITCH / +24V MISSING

HARDWARE LIMIT SWITCH / +24V MISSING

This alarm indicates that a hardware limit switch has been activated or that the +24V power supply to the limit switch circuit is missing or insufficient. The limit switch serves as a safety mechanism to prevent the robot from moving beyond its mechanical travel boundaries, and loss of +24V power prevents proper monitoring of these safety-critical switches.

Common Causes

  • Robot has moved to or beyond mechanical end-of-travel position, triggering the physical limit switch
  • Broken or disconnected wiring between limit switch and KRC controller input module
  • Faulty limit switch component requiring replacement
  • +24V power supply to the I/O module is interrupted, degraded, or not properly distributed
  • Loose terminal connections or corrosion on limit switch circuit connectors in the control cabinet

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify physical robot position and manually check if any axis has reached mechanical hard stop; if so, move robot away from limit using jog mode with appropriate caution
  2. 2Inspect the +24V power supply voltage at the I/O module using a multimeter; ensure voltage is between 24V +/- 5% (19.2-28.8V)
  3. 3Check all wiring connections between limit switches and the KRC controller input terminals for loose pins, corrosion, or damage
  4. 4Test limit switch continuity using a multimeter in both closed and open positions to confirm the switch is functioning mechanically
  5. 5Verify signal wiring integrity by disconnecting and reconnecting all limit switch connectors at both the robot and controller end, ensuring firm seating
  6. 6If alarm persists, replace the suspected faulty limit switch or check the input module for hardware failure; contact KUKA service if +24V supply is confirmed absent
