KUKA Robot KRC0078 - PASSIVE STOP <RCP or teach pendant>

PASSIVE STOP <RCP or teach pendant>

A stop command has been issued from a passive control unit such as the teach pendant or Remote Control Panel (RCP) while the robot was executing an active program or motion. This is an informational alarm indicating that an external stop request has halted operations.

Common Causes

  • Operator pressed the STOP button on the teach pendant or RCP during active robot motion or program execution
  • Passive stop signal received from an external monitoring system or safety interface connected to the KRC4 peripheral input
  • Teach pendant or RCP STOP button stuck or held in the depressed position, continuously triggering passive stop
  • Safety configuration in the KRC4 system interprets a valid input signal as a passive stop command from the control device
  • Accidental activation of the passive stop function through a programmed macro or automated safety routine

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the teach pendant or RCP for any stuck buttons or mechanical damage to the STOP button mechanism
  2. 2Verify that the active program has been properly halted and all robot axes are stationary using the KUKA smartPAD status display
  3. 3Review the teach pendant and RCP connection status in the KRC4 system to confirm proper hardware communication
  4. 4If the alarm recurs immediately after resuming operation, inspect the teach pendant or RCP cable for damage or intermittent connection issues
  5. 5Check the KRC4 peripheral interface configuration to confirm that the passive stop input is correctly assigned and not affected by electrical noise
  6. 6Refer to the specific teach pendant or RCP documentation to ensure the STOP button functionality is configured correctly in the KRC4 safety parameters
