KUKA Robot KRC0073 - GENERAL MOTION ENABLE

GENERAL MOTION ENABLE

This alarm indicates that the $MOVE_ENABLE input signal to the KUKA KRC controller has transitioned to a low state, preventing the robot from executing motion commands. The $MOVE_ENABLE signal is a critical safety and operational input that must remain high during normal robot operation; when it drops low, all programmed movements are immediately halted as a safety measure.

Common Causes

  • Disconnected or loose wiring on the $MOVE_ENABLE input terminal
  • Faulty enable pushbutton or selector switch on the teach pendant or control panel
  • Malfunctioning safety relay or interlock circuit preventing signal transmission
  • PLC or external control system not providing the required high signal to $MOVE_ENABLE
  • Damaged input card or terminal block on the KRC controller causing signal loss

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify physical wiring connections to the $MOVE_ENABLE input terminal on the KRC control cabinet are secure and not corroded
  2. 2Use a multimeter to confirm the $MOVE_ENABLE input is receiving the correct voltage level (typically 24V DC for high state)
  3. 3Check the enable switch or button on the teach pendant for proper operation and continuity
  4. 4Review the safety relay circuit configuration and test all interlock switches that feed the $MOVE_ENABLE signal
  5. 5If using external PLC control, verify the PLC program is outputting the enable signal and check for communication faults
  6. 6If all external inputs test correct, access the KRC diagnostics to monitor the $MOVE_ENABLE input signal in real-time and consider replacing the controller input module if the signal remains low despite verified external voltage
