HEIDENHAIN 126-011E - Missing authorization

Missing authorization

The user lacks permission to execute the commissioning mode functions such as current controller adjustment or field-angle capture. An authorized user password is required.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm is triggered by Heidenhain's software licensing enforcement when the control attempts to execute a function or access a feature that requires specific authorization not present in the current license configuration. The issue is always related to missing or invalid Option Codes, Feature Key Files, or attempting to use functionality beyond the purchased license scope.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access MOD Function

Press MOD key (or use control key + MOD softkey), navigate to 'System Configuration' then 'Option Codes' to view currently installed licenses and compare against machine documentation.

On iTNC 530 and newer, Option Codes are displayed with feature descriptions. Write down all active codes before any service work for backup documentation.

  2. 2

    Locate Original Option Code Documentation

Check machine acceptance documentation, commissioning records, or contact machine tool builder for original Option Code list. Codes are machine-specific and tied to control serial number.

Option Codes are often recorded on a label inside the electrical cabinet or in the machine commissioning binder - check these sources first.

  3. 3

    Enter Missing Option Codes

In MOD > System Configuration > Option Codes, use 'Enter New Option Code' function and input the alphanumeric code exactly as documented. Control will validate and activate immediately.

Option Codes are control serial number specific. Codes from another machine will not work and may cause registration issues.

  4. 4

    Perform Control Restart

After entering Option Codes, perform complete control restart (power cycle) to ensure all licensed modules initialize properly. Verify alarm clears and function is accessible.

Some Option Codes activate immediately, but kinematics and axis-related licenses typically require full restart to reinitialize the NCK.
