HEIDENHAIN 126-011D - Self-test was not executed on with HSCI address

Self-test was not executed on with HSCI address

This TNC7/TNC 640 error (126-011D) relates to 'Self-test was not executed on with HSCI address '. During the device self-test, an expected message was not received.

Root Cause Summary

The HSCI component at the specified address has either failed to execute its mandatory self-test during initialization or failed to communicate the self-test completion back to the TNC control. This is a safety interlock preventing machine operation until all components have verified their operational readiness through successful self-test completion.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Perform clean system restart

Ensure Emergency Stop is released. Power down the complete system using the main disconnect. Wait minimum 30 seconds for all capacitors to discharge. Power up and allow the TNC to complete its full boot sequence without any interruption—do not press any keys or activate E-Stop during HSCI initialization phase (typically 30-90 seconds).

Do not interrupt the boot sequence once started. Wait for the TNC to reach the normal operating screen or error state.

  2. 2

    Monitor HSCI initialization

During boot-up, observe the TNC screen for HSCI initialization messages. The control will display status of each HSCI component as it completes self-test. Note if the component at address %3 is listed and whether it completes or times out.

Press MOD key → Info → Boot Log to review the complete startup sequence and identify at which point the component failed to respond.

  3. 3

    Verify alarm clearance

After successful uninterrupted boot, check if alarm 126-011D clears automatically. If cleared, perform a test cycle of all axes to verify normal operation. Document the incident and monitor for recurrence.

If this alarm occurs repeatedly at startup, suspect hardware issues rather than initialization timing problems.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·HSCI interface card replacement needed
  • ·Multiple devices failing simultaneously
  • ·Persistent issues after cable and configuration verification

Prevention

  • Regular HSCI cable inspection and maintenance
  • Monitor HSCI diagnostic counters for early warning signs
  • Maintain proper HSCI bus termination
  • Keep HSCI device firmware updated

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring HSCI bus termination requirements
  • Not checking for duplicate HSCI addresses
  • Assuming cable issues when device hardware has failed
  • Not verifying power supply to HSCI devices
