HEIDENHAIN 126-012B - Automatic switchover in simulation mode FullSimul

Automatic switchover in simulation mode FullSimul

The control switched itself to FullSimul mode because neither a PL nor a machine operating panel was found, no devices responded on the HSCI bus, or the simulation setting does not match installed hardware.

Root Cause Summary

This is typically an informational message rather than a fault condition. The TNC control automatically enters full simulation mode when it determines that actual machine movement should not occur, either due to operator-selected Test Run mode, specific machine parameter configurations, or program conditions that require simulation. The control is operating as designed to prevent unintended machine motion.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Verify Operating Mode

Check the current operating mode displayed in the status bar. If 'Test Run' or 'smarT.NC' test mode is active, the control will automatically engage full simulation.

In Test Run mode, the TNC executes the complete program logic including dwell times and M functions without physical axis movement - ideal for program verification.

  2. 2

    Switch to Machine Operating Mode

If actual machining is required, select 'Machine Operating' mode from the operating mode keys. Ensure work piece is properly set up and all safety conditions are met before switching.

Switching from simulation to Machine Operating mode will enable actual axis movement. Verify safe conditions before proceeding.

  3. 3

    Review Simulation Settings

Press MOD key, select 'Settings', then navigate to 'Simulation' settings. Verify the simulation mode is set appropriately for your intended operation (OFF for real machining, FullSimul for complete simulation).

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·HSCI hardware replacement needed
  • ·CC unit HSCI master card failure
  • ·Complex network configuration required

Prevention

  • Regular HSCI cable inspection
  • Maintain proper bus termination
  • Keep PL software updated and licensed
  • Document hardware configuration changes

Common Mistakes

  • Forgetting HSCI bus termination
  • Incorrect IP address configuration
  • Modifying simulation settings without understanding hardware impact
  • Not waiting for complete system initialization
