HEIDENHAIN 126-012F - Component: with serial number: not planned in project

Component: with serial number: not planned in project

A Gen 3 system requires every HSCI-connected component and all power modules to be present in the IOconfig project. The indicated component is missing from that plan.

Root Cause Summary

The control's hardware configuration project does not include the serial number of a component that is physically present and communicating on the system bus. This mismatch between planned configuration and detected hardware prevents proper initialization. The issue is resolved by updating the hardware configuration file to match the actual installed components.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Identify the unplanned component

Record the component name (%1) and serial number (%2) from the alarm display. Common components include PLCxxxx (PLC module), CCxxxx (CC control unit), UMxxxx (drive modules), or IBxxxx (encoder interfaces).

  2. 2

    Launch TNCopt commissioning software

Connect to the control using TNCopt (version must match control software version). Navigate to the hardware configuration section and perform a bus scan to detect all physically present components.

  3. 3

    Update hardware configuration

In TNCopt, compare the scanned hardware against the project configuration. Accept the new serial number by either replacing the old component entry or adding the component if missing. Ensure all parameters and assignments are correctly transferred.

Before accepting changes, document the old serial number and save a backup of the current configuration file in case the new component needs to be reverted.

  4. 4

    Save and transfer updated configuration

Save the modified hardware project in TNCopt and transfer the updated TNCopt.sys file to the control's SYS directory, overwriting the existing configuration file.

  5. 5

    Perform cold start

Execute a complete system restart (power cycle or MOD → Reset → Cold Start) to force the control to reload the hardware configuration and reinitialize all components with the updated project.

Cold start will reset PLC program execution and clear certain system states. Coordinate with production before executing.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·IOconfig software not available
  • ·Multiple HSCI communication errors persist
  • ·Hardware replacement required

Prevention

  • Always update IOconfig after hardware changes
  • Maintain current project backups
  • Document all component serial numbers
  • Verify HSCI cable integrity during maintenance

Common Mistakes

  • Forgetting to download IOconfig after changes
  • Using wrong project version
  • Ignoring HSCI termination requirements
  • Not backing up working configurations
