126-0136

HEIDENHAIN 126-0136 - Too many UVR devices connected. Current:; permitted

Too many UVR devices connected. Current:; permitted

The HSCI bus has more UVR devices attached than are permitted by the system firmware.

Root Cause Summary

The control has detected more UVR (Universal Voltage Regulator) devices than the TNC hardware or software license permits. This typically results from configuration file errors, incorrect system setup after hardware changes, or mismatched control configuration files that don't align with the actual TNC model capabilities.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access MOD function configuration area

Turn the keyswitch to position 2 (MOD). Enter MOD mode and navigate to System Files → Configuration Files to access the UVR configuration area.

Only authorized personnel should modify system configuration files. Make complete backups before any changes.

  2. 2

    Review CfgUvr.sys file contents

Open CfgUvr.sys and count the number of UVR device entries defined. Compare this count with the %2 value (permitted count) shown in the alarm message.

Use the TNCopt configuration tool if available for your control version - it provides validation and prevents configuration errors.

  3. 3

Remove or comment out excess UVR entries

Edit CfgUvr.sys to remove UVR device definitions that exceed the permitted count. Start by removing the highest numbered devices or those not physically present in the system.

Comment out entries using semicolon (;) rather than deleting them initially, allowing easy rollback if needed.

  4. 4

    Verify sys.xml consistency

Check sys.xml for UVR-related entries and ensure consistency with CfgUvr.sys. Remove any conflicting or duplicate UVR device definitions.

Incorrect sys.xml modifications can prevent control startup. Always maintain original backup copies.

  5. 5

    Restart control and verify

Save all changes, exit MOD mode, and perform a complete control restart (power cycle). Monitor the startup sequence to confirm alarm 126-0136 no longer appears.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter changes don't resolve alarm
  • ·Multiple UVR devices need replacement
  • ·HSCI bus rewiring required

Prevention

  • Regular HSCI cable inspection
  • Maintain proper bus termination
  • Keep UVR device count within specifications
  • Monitor HSCI communication diagnostics

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring proper HSCI termination
  • Exceeding maximum cable lengths
  • Not documenting UVR device assignments
  • Mixing different UVR firmware versions
