126-0135

HEIDENHAIN 126-0135 - Too many MB/TE devices connected. Current:; permitted

Too many MB/TE devices connected. Current:; permitted

The number of MB or TE operating panels connected over HSCI is higher than the maximum allowed for this bus.

Root Cause Summary

The TNC control has detected more MB (Bluetooth measuring probe) or TE (electronic touch probe) devices than are permitted by the hardware configuration or software license. This limit is enforced by the control firmware based on model specifications (TNC 320, 530, 620, 640) and active feature licenses. The alarm protects against system resource overload and ensures proper probe management within the control's capacity.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check current license status

Press 'MOD' key, navigate to 'TNCdiag' → 'License Information' → 'Feature Licenses'. Look for entries related to 'Probe Systems' or 'Measuring Cycles' and note the permitted quantity.

Document the feature code (FCL) number displayed - you'll need this when contacting Heidenhain for license upgrades.

  2. 2

    Review actual connected devices

In MOD mode, go to 'System Settings' → 'Device Configuration' → 'Probe Devices'. The alarm parameters show current devices (%1) vs. permitted (%2). Compare this with your physical setup.

Take a screenshot of this screen before making changes - useful for service documentation.

  3. 3

    Disconnect excess probe hardware

Power down the machine. Physically disconnect probe receivers or TE interfaces that exceed the license limit. Ensure only the required number of devices remain connected to PL/HSC inputs or wireless receivers.

Always power down the complete system before disconnecting probe hardware to prevent communication errors or damage.

  4. 4

    Request license upgrade if needed

If additional probes are required, contact your Heidenhain distributor with your TNC NC software ID (found in MOD → TNCdiag → System Information) to purchase an upgraded license for additional MB/TE devices.

License upgrades are typically delivered as encrypted files (.lic) that are loaded via USB - no hardware changes required.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·HSCI bus hardware failure suspected
  • ·Multiple devices showing communication errors
  • ·CfgHSCI parameters require factory-level modification

Prevention

  • Document all HSCI device connections during installation
  • Regularly verify HSCI device count in MOD menu
  • Avoid hot-plugging MB/TE devices during operation

Common Mistakes

  • Connecting multiple TE devices without checking bus capacity
  • Ignoring HSCI device enumeration during retrofits
  • Modifying CfgHSCI parameters without understanding TNC model limits
