HEIDENHAIN 130-0067 -

This TNC7/TNC 640 error (130-0067) relates to ''. Arithmetical error. Value too large.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm stems from the TNC control's numerical calculation engine encountering a value that exceeds its internal representation limits during program execution. The most frequent trigger is tool radius compensation attempting to calculate offset paths on geometrically problematic contours, though kinematic transformations and parameter calculations can also cause overflow conditions.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Locate Compensation Problem Area

In Test Run mode, single-block through the program approaching the alarm point. Watch the path graphics closely for unusual tool path deviations or compensation loops that indicate problematic geometry.

Use the 'Show Path' function (soft key in Program Run) with radius compensation display enabled to visualize where the compensation path becomes extreme.

  2. 2

    Analyze Contour Geometry

Examine the NC blocks before the alarm for segment lengths less than 2× tool radius, or angles between consecutive moves sharper than 10 degrees. Check for duplicate points or micro-segments from CAM post-processor errors.

Toggle Q INFO ON in MDI to display all calculated coordinates - values approaching ±999999999 indicate impending overflow.

  3. 3

    Modify Contour or Disable Compensation

Either smooth the contour by removing micro-segments and adding blend radii (RND or CHF), or strategically cancel and reactivate compensation around the problem area using G40, reposition, then G41/G42.

When repositioning with G40, ensure adequate clearance from the workpiece to avoid crashes when reactivating compensation.

  4. 4

    Adjust Tool Radius

If geometry cannot be changed, reduce the tool radius value in the tool table (Tool.T) temporarily. Smaller radius reduces the severity of offset calculations on tight geometry.

Check MP7680 (max permissible deviation for radius comp) - increasing this slightly allows the control more tolerance in compensation calculations.

Service Recommendedmedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter corruption cannot be resolved
  • ·Hardware diagnostics indicate processor/memory failure
  • ·Encoder signals show persistent corruption
  • ·Multiple related alarms occur simultaneously

Prevention

  • Regular parameter backups
  • Implement coordinate system limits checking
  • Periodic encoder cable inspection
  • Monitor system temperatures
  • Validate NC programs before production use

Common Mistakes

  • Ignoring parameter backup before changes
  • Using excessive coordinate values in programs
  • Overlooking encoder signal quality issues
  • Not validating mathematical expressions in NC programs
  • Assuming software-only issue without checking hardware
