HEIDENHAIN 130-009E - File access not possible

File access not possible

The control cannot access the requested file. Either access rights are denied, or another application currently holds a write lock on the file.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm is fundamentally a file system access denial triggered when the TNC's operating system cannot complete a requested file operation. The underlying cause is typically related to storage hardware issues, network communication failures, file permission conflicts, or corrupted filesystem structures that prevent the control from reading, writing, or modifying the target file. Network-based file access on shared drives is particularly susceptible to timeout and permission-related triggers of this alarm.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Check physical write protection

If using a CF card, inspect the physical write-protect switch on the card edge. Ensure it is in the unlocked position (not towards the contacts). Remove and reinsert the card if necessary.

Always shut down the control properly before removing CF cards to prevent filesystem corruption.

  2. 2

    Verify file attributes

In Programming and Editing mode, navigate to the file, press EDIT key, select FILE, then Properties. Check if 'Read Only' attribute is enabled. Deselect this option and confirm with ENT key.

  3. 3

    Check directory permissions

Navigate to the parent directory (TNC:\, SYS:\, or subdirectories) and verify directory attributes. Some system directories have restricted write access by design—save user programs to TNC:\ paths instead of SYS:\ paths.

Tool tables (.T files) and preset tables (.D files) must reside in TNC:\table\ directory with proper write permissions for edit operations to succeed.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Network infrastructure issues persist
  • ·File system corruption detected
  • ·Hardware failure suspected

Prevention

  • Implement proper file sharing protocols
  • Regular network drive health checks
  • Maintain adequate free disk space
  • Use proper file closing procedures in external applications

Common Mistakes

  • Not checking if files are open in CAM software
  • Ignoring network connection status
  • Attempting file operations during active machining
  • Not verifying file permissions after network transfers
