130-012E

HEIDENHAIN 130-012E -

The system startup failed because one or more required objects are missing. This prevents the control from initializing fully.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm indicates the control's operating system cannot locate or load essential software objects required for normal operation. The most common root causes are interrupted software updates, corrupted system files on the storage media, or incomplete system restores that leave critical components missing. The control halts startup as a protective measure to prevent unpredictable behavior from incomplete system initialization.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Access MOD Functions

Power on the control and immediately press the MOD key during boot sequence. If the control reaches SystemManager, the storage media is at least partially functional.

If you cannot access MOD functions, the system may need a complete software reinstallation from recovery media or BIOS-level tools.

  2. 2

Check Error Log for Specific Objects

Navigate to TNC:\system\ directory and open ErrorLog.txt or use MOD -> System Information -> Error Log to identify which specific objects failed to load. Look for entries immediately before the 130-012E alarm.

The error log may reference specific .SYS, .DLL, or .PLC files that are missing or corrupted, giving you exact targets for restoration.

  3. 3

    Restore from TNCbackup Archive

If you have a recent TNCbackup archive, boot to SystemManager (MOD functions) and use the restore function to reload the complete system configuration including software objects. Ensure the backup was created with the same or compatible NC software version.

Restoring a backup from a significantly different software version may cause compatibility issues. Verify version compatibility before proceeding.

  4. 4

    Perform Complete Software Reinstallation

If no valid backup exists, perform a fresh NC software installation using the original Heidenhain installation DVD or USB media. Boot to SystemManager, select Software Update, and follow the complete installation procedure for your specific TNC model.

Complete software reinstallation will erase all user data, programs, and configuration unless previously backed up. Document all machine parameters before proceeding.

DIY Feasiblemedium confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Hardware diagnostic indicates main board failure
  • ·Software reinstallation fails repeatedly
  • ·No backup configuration available and parameters unknown

Prevention

  • Perform regular system backups using automated backup scheduler
  • Ensure UPS protection during software updates
  • Monitor system log files for early warning signs
  • Keep spare CompactFlash cards with current system image

Common Mistakes

  • Attempting to modify system files without proper backup
  • Ignoring hardware diagnostic warnings
  • Performing software updates without UPS protection
  • Not verifying backup integrity before system changes
