HEIDENHAIN 130-009A - File system error
This alarm is almost always caused by physical or logical corruption of the TNC control's storage media, primarily the internal hard disk or CompactFlash card. The file system structure has become damaged or inaccessible, preventing the control from executing normal file operations required for operation, typically due to improper shutdowns, hardware wear, or storage media failure.

Root Cause Summary
This alarm is almost always caused by physical or logical corruption of the TNC control's storage media, primarily the internal hard disk or CompactFlash card. The file system structure has become damaged or inaccessible, preventing the control from executing normal file operations required for operation, typically due to improper shutdowns, hardware wear, or storage media failure.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Attempt Safe Boot
Power cycle the control completely (wait 30 seconds). During boot-up, watch for the TNC logo and attempt to access the system. If partially accessible, immediately navigate to MOD > System Files to assess file system status.
On iTNC 530 and TNC 620/640 controls, you may see additional diagnostic messages during boot that indicate which partition is affected.
Boot from Recovery Media
Insert a Heidenhain System Recovery CD or USB (specific to your TNC model and version). Access boot menu (typically F12 or DEL during startup) and boot from external media to access recovery tools.
Ensure you have the correct recovery media matching your TNC software version before proceeding.
Run File System Check
From the recovery environment, select the disk check utility (CHKDSK for Windows-based TNC systems). Run a full scan with automatic repair option on the C: drive (system partition) and D: drive (TNC partition).
The TNC typically uses D: drive for NC programs and machine parameters. Check both C: and D: partitions.
Restore and Verify
After file system repair completes, reboot normally and verify operation. Check MOD > System Info to confirm available memory and proper partition recognition. Test basic file operations like opening an NC program from TNC:\.
