Root Cause Summary

Safety

  • Verify program matches control type

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Identify the exact program block causing the alarm by noting the sequence number displayed with PS009. Enter EDIT mode and navigate to the flagged N-number or O-program line.

  2. 2

    Check for invalid address letters such as: A, B, C (rotary axes) if not configured in parameters 1022-1025; E (not used in standard Fanuc); or duplicate addresses in the same block. Verify against valid Fanuc addresses: G, M, X, Y, Z, A, B, C, U, V, W, I, J, K, R, F, S, T, D, H, P, Q, L.

  3. 3

Access SYSTEM > PARAM and verify parameter 1020 (axis configuration) matches the programmed axes. For 4th/5th axis programming, confirm parameters 1022-1025 enable the rotary axis address letters being used.

Changing axis parameters requires parameter write enable (PWE) bit 0 in setting and may require machine reboot.

  4. 4

Correct the invalid address letter in the program block, or if the address should be valid, enable it through the appropriate axis/function parameters and power cycle the control.
