Fanuc 340 - Canned cycle parameter error
Alarm 340 occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89, etc.) contains invalid parameters, missing required values, or logically impossible combinations. This is a programming error where the control cannot execute the cycle due to incorrect R-plane values, feed depths, missing coordinates, or parameters that violate the cycle's operational logic.

CANNED CYCLE PARAMETER ERROR
Fanuc PS program alarm 340: CANNED CYCLE PARAMETER ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 340 occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89, etc.) contains invalid parameters, missing required values, or logically impossible combinations. This is a programming error where the control cannot execute the cycle due to incorrect R-plane values, feed depths, missing coordinates, or parameters that violate the cycle's operational logic.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Review the canned cycle block in the program and identify the R and Z values (or X for lathe radial drilling).
Verify R-plane is above (greater Z value in milling) the final depth Z value. For G98 return, ensure R is also below the initial starting height.
Check that R and Z are not equal values, as this creates zero depth condition.
Correct the R or Z parameter to establish proper clearance and depth relationship, then reset alarm and restart program.
