Review the program lines immediately before the canned cycle call. Verify that X, Y positioning moves are completed before the canned cycle is initiated.
Check that the R address (retract/reference plane) is specified in the canned cycle block and that its value is logical relative to the Z initial position.
Ensure G90 (absolute) or G91 (incremental) mode is correctly set for your application. Verify Z-axis current position is above the R plane in absolute mode.
Add an explicit positioning move (G00 Z__ or G00 X__ Y__ Z__) to establish the initial point before the canned cycle line, then re-run the program.
