Fanuc 344 - Canned cycle repeat error
Alarm 344 occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89) is repeated or called without proper initial parameters, or when required modal information is missing. This typically happens when using a canned cycle with only some coordinates specified after the initial call, or when the control expects full cycle definition but receives incomplete data.

CANNED CYCLE REPEAT ERROR
Fanuc PS program alarm 344: CANNED CYCLE REPEAT ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 344 occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G80-G89) is repeated or called without proper initial parameters, or when required modal information is missing. This typically happens when using a canned cycle with only some coordinates specified after the initial call, or when the control expects full cycle definition but receives incomplete data.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Review the program lines immediately before the alarm. Identify the canned cycle block (G73, G76, G81-G89) and subsequent hole position calls.
Verify that the initial canned cycle block contains all required parameters: R (retract plane), Z (depth), F (feedrate), and Q (peck depth if applicable).
Check that subsequent hole positions either include all cycle parameters or that parameter setting 5101 bit 6 is set to allow single-axis specification. If bit is OFF, every cycle call must include R and Z values.
Modifying parameter 5101 affects all canned cycle operations. Consult machine builder documentation before changing.
Rewrite the canned cycle sequence with complete parameters on each line, or ensure the initial cycle properly establishes modal values: G81 X__ Y__ Z__ R__ F__ for first hole, then X__ Y__ for subsequent holes.
