Fanuc 343 - Canned cycle depth error
Alarm 343 occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G81-G89) has been programmed with an incorrect depth relationship between the R-plane and Z-depth values. The control detects that the tool path geometry is impossible or unsafe, typically when the Z-depth is not deeper than the R-plane in the expected direction, or when initial point, R-point, and Z-point relationships violate canned cycle logic.
Fanuc 343 - Canned cycle depth error
CANNED CYCLE DEPTH ERROR
Fanuc PS program alarm 343: CANNED CYCLE DEPTH ERROR. This alarm is triggered by an illegal or incorrectly formatted command in the part program, or a programming condition that the Fanuc control cannot execute.
Root Cause Summary
Alarm 343 occurs when a canned cycle (G73, G74, G76, G81-G89) has been programmed with an incorrect depth relationship between the R-plane and Z-depth values. The control detects that the tool path geometry is impossible or unsafe, typically when the Z-depth is not deeper than the R-plane in the expected direction, or when initial point, R-point, and Z-point relationships violate canned cycle logic.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Identify the canned cycle line triggering the alarm (G81, G83, G73, etc.) and note the R and Z values programmed.
Verify Z-depth is algebraically less than R-plane (e.g., if R=-1.0, then Z must be more negative like Z=-2.0, not Z=-0.5).
Check work coordinate system and tool length offset to ensure actual depth relationship is correct in machine coordinates.
Correct the R or Z value so Z extends beyond R in the drilling direction, then reset alarm and restart program.
