Fanuc Alarm 150 - ILLEGAL LIFE GROUP NUMBER

SYSTEM ALARM 150

Fanuc alarm 150: SYSTEM ALARM 150. This alarm indicates a fault condition detected by the Fanuc control. Refer to the alarm number and name to identify the specific system or function involved.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 150 occurs when a tool life management group number specified in the NC program or tool offset table exceeds the maximum number of tool groups configured in the system parameters. This is commonly caused by programming errors, incorrect tool group assignments, or parameter mismatches between the program and machine configuration.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Navigate to OFFSET/SETTING > LIFE and check the group number that triggered the alarm. Note the maximum group number being used.

  2. 2

Access SYSTEM > PARAM and check parameter 6800 (number of tool life management groups). Verify the value is sufficient for your application. Typical range is 1-512 depending on CNC model.

Parameter 6800 requires PARAMETER WRITE ENABLE bit 0 (parameter 3202#0=1) and may require CNC restart after modification.

  3. 3

If the group number in your program is valid, increase parameter 6800 to accommodate the required number of tool groups. If the group number is erroneous, correct the NC program or tool registration data.

  4. 4

Reset the alarm by pressing RESET key, then re-execute the program to verify the issue is resolved.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter changes don't resolve the issue
  • ·Suspected hardware/memory problems
  • ·System continues to generate alarm after data reset

Prevention

  • Regularly backup tool life management data
  • Validate T code group numbers during program creation
  • Monitor parameter 6800 setting when adding new tool groups
  • Implement programming standards for tool life group numbering

Common Mistakes

  • Assuming group numbers can exceed parameter limits
  • Not checking subprograms for invalid T codes
  • Modifying parameters without understanding system capacity
  • Clearing tool life data without backup
