Fanuc Alarm 148 - SETTING ERROR

AUTO CORNER DECELERATION RATE ILLEGAL

Automatic corner override deceleration rate is out of the settable range. Modify parameters 1710 to 1714.

Root Cause Summary

Fanuc Alarm 148 occurs when the automatic corner override deceleration rate parameters (1710-1714) contain values outside the permissible range defined by the control. This is typically caused by incorrect manual parameter entry, corrupted parameter data after battery failure, or improper parameter restoration from backup. The alarm prevents machine operation until valid parameter values are restored.

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Press SYSTEM key, select PARAM screen. Search for parameters 1710, 1711, 1712, 1713, and 1714. Note current values and verify parameter write enable is OFF (parameter 0000 bit 0 = 0).

  2. 2

Enable parameter write: Set parameter 0000 bit 0 = 1 (PWE). This requires turning the key switch or using proper access level depending on machine setup.

Enabling parameter write allows modification of critical control parameters. Document all original values before making changes.

  3. 3

Set parameters to known good default values: 1710=100, 1711=100, 1712=0, 1713=0, 1714=0. Consult machine builder documentation for application-specific values if defaults do not match machine requirements.

  4. 4

Set parameter 0000 bit 0 = 0 to disable parameter write. Cycle power to the control (full power OFF/ON cycle). Verify alarm 148 clears and test axis motion in JOG mode at reduced feedrate.

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·Parameter backup restoration fails
  • ·Alarm persists after parameter correction
  • ·Machine performance degrades after parameter changes

Prevention

  • Always backup parameters before modifications
  • Document parameter changes with date and reason
  • Verify parameter ranges in manual before entry
  • Replace battery proactively every 5-7 years

Common Mistakes

  • Setting parameter 1710 to 0 instead of valid percentage
  • Confusing degrees with radians for angle parameters
  • Not cycling power after parameter changes
  • Ignoring parameter interdependencies between 1710-1714
