Siemens 840D 61313 - Channel Block: Check probe number

Channel Block: Check probe number

The probe has an impermissible value (_PRNUM). The alarm can be triggered by the following measuring cycles: all measuring cycles. Remedy: Correct _PRNUM or create data field _TP[] or _WP[] for additional tool or workpiece probe and adjust _CVAL[0]/_CVAL[1] accordingly.

Safety

  • Refer to Siemens documentation
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Common Causes

  • Probe number (_PRNUM) is outside the valid range for configured probes
  • Referenced probe does not exist in the system configuration
  • Measuring cycle attempted to use probe index that exceeds available probe array size
  • Data fields _TP[] or _WP[] not properly initialized for the specified probe number
  • Calibration values _CVAL[0]/_CVAL[1] mismatch with probe number assignment

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the _PRNUM value in the active measuring cycle matches a configured probe number in the system
  2. 2Check machine parameters to confirm total number of available tool probes (_TP[]) and workpiece probes (_WP[]) and their index range
  3. 3Review the measuring cycle source code to ensure _PRNUM is not hardcoded incorrectly or exceeding array bounds
  4. 4Inspect calibration data _CVAL[0] and _CVAL[1] to confirm they are defined for the probe number being called
  5. 5If adding a new probe, create the corresponding data field entry in _TP[] or _WP[] array and re-index all probe references in affected measuring cycles
