KRC0608

KUKA Robot KRC0608 - SINEC L2 bus channel not opened

SINEC L2 bus channel not opened

An attempt was made to establish a SINEC L2 connection through the OPEN command when the underlying SINEC L2 bus channel has not been opened first. This represents a violation of the SINEC L2 communication protocol initialization sequence required by the KRC4 controller.

Common Causes

  • KRL program calls SINEC L2 OPEN command before the system bus channel initialization has completed
  • Bus channel was closed or terminated unexpectedly by a prior error condition or system fault
  • SINEC L2 bus initialization routine was skipped or bypassed in the startup sequence of the KRL application
  • System reset or controller reboot occurred leaving SINEC L2 bus in uninitialized state while connection attempt executes
  • Incorrect program flow control where SINEC L2 OPEN statements execute out of proper sequence order

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the KRL program structure to identify the sequence of SINEC L2 bus channel and connection open operations
  2. 2Add explicit SINEC L2 bus channel OPEN command before any SINEC L2 connection OPEN statements in the initialization section
  3. 3Verify the SINEC L2 bus channel remains open by checking channel status variables before attempting connection operations
  4. 4Implement error handling with RET status checking after each SINEC L2 operation to detect premature channel closure
  5. 5Ensure the SINEC L2 hardware interface in $CUSTOM.DAT is properly configured with valid bus parameters and device addressing
  6. 6Execute a full KRC4 system startup sequence from idle state ensuring all bus initialization routines complete before production operation
