KUKA Robot KRC0613 - SINEC L2 communication channels not closed

SINEC L2 communication channels not closed

The SINEC L2 bus channel cannot be closed because one or more communication sub-channels remain open. The KRC4 controller enforces a strict closure hierarchy where all dependent communication channels must be closed before the parent channel can be closed. Ensure all active communication sessions are properly terminated.

Common Causes

  • Sub-channels were opened but not explicitly closed in the KRL program
  • Exception or program termination occurred while SINEC L2 channels were active
  • Incorrect channel closure order in the communication shutdown sequence
  • Multiple concurrent SINEC L2 connections not being tracked or managed properly
  • Orphaned communication sessions from interrupted or crashed KRL programs

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the KRL program logic to identify all OPEN_CHANNEL and CLOSE_CHANNEL commands in execution order
  2. 2Add explicit CLOSE_CHANNEL commands for all SINEC L2 sub-channels before closing the parent channel
  3. 3Implement error handling and cleanup routines using ON ERROR or TRY-CATCH blocks in KRL
  4. 4Restart the KRC4 controller to force closure of all orphaned SINEC L2 communication sessions
  5. 5Monitor active channels using the KUKA smartPAD system diagnostics to identify which channels remain open
  6. 6Verify the SINEC L2 board status in WorkVisual and perform a hardware reset if necessary
