KUKA Robot KRC0618 - NO CONNECTION TO SINEC L2 BOARD

NO CONNECTION TO SINEC L2 BOARD

This alarm indicates a communication failure between the Industrial Fieldbus Controller (IFC) and the SINEC L2 network interface board within the KRC robot controller. The IFC cannot establish or maintain a stable connection with the SINEC L2 board, preventing proper network communication and data exchange. This condition blocks network-dependent operations and may prevent the robot from receiving external commands or synchronizing with networked devices.

Common Causes

  • Loose or damaged ribbon cable connection between IFC and SINEC L2 board
  • Faulty SINEC L2 board hardware or defective IFC module
  • Improper seating of the SINEC L2 board in its slot on the main controller backplane
  • Corrupted firmware on the SINEC L2 board or IFC module
  • Power supply issues or voltage irregularities affecting the SINEC L2 board

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power down the KRC controller completely and wait 30 seconds before restarting to perform a full system reset
  2. 2Locate the ribbon cable connecting the IFC to the SINEC L2 board and verify both connectors are fully seated and properly aligned
  3. 3Inspect the ribbon cable for visible damage, bent pins, or contamination and reseat connectors on both ends with firm, even pressure
  4. 4Remove the SINEC L2 board from the backplane slot, visually inspect all gold contacts for corrosion or damage, and reinstall ensuring it clicks fully into place
  5. 5Check the KRC controller's power supply voltage levels and verify stable operation; replace the power supply if voltage fluctuations are detected
  6. 6If the alarm persists after hardware checks, contact KUKA service to test or replace the SINEC L2 board or IFC module as they may be defective
