KRC0623

KUKA Robot KRC0623 - Protocol timeout

Protocol timeout

This alarm indicates that a communication protocol exchange between the KRC controller and a peripheral device or network interface has exceeded its defined timeout threshold, causing the protocol handshake or data transmission to fail. The controller is unable to complete the expected protocol sequence within the allocated time window, typically occurring during device initialization, data synchronization, or real-time communication exchanges. This fault prevents proper establishment or maintenance of the communication link with the affected interface.

Common Causes

  • Network cable disconnection or poor physical connection between controller and peripheral device
  • Communication interface card (KCP, Ethernet, or serial adapter) hardware failure or malfunction
  • Incorrect baud rate or communication parameters configured in the KRC controller settings
  • Peripheral device not responding or powered off during protocol initialization sequence
  • Excessive electromagnetic interference (EMI) or signal degradation on the communication line

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify all communication cables are firmly seated and inspect for physical damage, corrosion, or bent pins on connectors
  2. 2Power cycle both the KRC controller and the connected peripheral device, waiting 30 seconds between power-down and restart
  3. 3Access the KRC system configuration menu and confirm that communication protocol parameters (baud rate, parity, stop bits, handshake) match the peripheral device specifications
  4. 4Test the communication interface card functionality using diagnostic tools; replace the interface card if hardware failure is detected
  5. 5Relocate communication cables away from high-voltage power lines and servo motor connections to minimize electromagnetic interference, or use shielded cables
  6. 6If the alarm persists, contact KUKA service support and provide controller diagnostic logs (*.log files) and a detailed description of connected peripheral devices
