KRC0622

KUKA Robot KRC0622 - Baud rate summation exceeded

Baud rate summation exceeded

The combined baud rate allocation for serial or SINEC L2 channels has exceeded the maximum supported aggregate bandwidth of 19200 bits per second. The KRC4 controller enforces this limit to ensure deterministic real-time task scheduling and prevent buffer overruns on the interface CPU.

Common Causes

  • Two communication channels configured with baud rates that sum to more than 19200 bps, such as 9600 plus 9600 or higher combinations
  • SINEC L2 channel baud rate was increased without reducing other channel speeds to stay within the aggregate limit
  • User configured high-speed serial channels for analog feedback or external device communication without accounting for the dual-channel bandwidth constraint
  • WorkVisual project imported from another KRC4 system with different communication requirements was not adapted to the 19200 bps total limit
  • SINEC L2 network module automatically negotiated a faster baud rate during initialization, causing total bandwidth to exceed the threshold

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Open WorkVisual and navigate to Network configuration to view current baud rate settings for all active communication channels
  2. 2Calculate the sum of all channel baud rates and identify which channels exceed the 19200 bps aggregate limit
  3. 3Reduce baud rates on non-critical channels to lower-speed options such as 2400, 4800, or 9600 bps to stay within budget
  4. 4If possible, disable or remove unnecessary communication channels that are not actively used by KRL programs or external devices
  5. 5Save the revised configuration in WorkVisual and download to the KRC4 controller, then test communication performance on remaining channels
  6. 6If bandwidth cannot be reduced further, consider implementing data buffering, message prioritization, or upgrading to a KRC4 system with higher interface CPU bandwidth if available
