KUKA Robot KRC0597 - Digital input already assigned

Digital input already assigned

This alarm occurs when a digital input is assigned and activated more than once within the same program execution cycle. The KRC4 system does not permit multiple concurrent cyclical assignments to the same digital input, as this creates ambiguous state conditions and unpredictable behavior in process control.

Common Causes

  • Declaring the same digital input in multiple INTERRUPT statements or input monitoring blocks
  • Using a digital input variable in both the main program loop and a parallel interrupt declaration
  • Assigning the same digital input port through different function modules or library calls simultaneously
  • Duplicating digital input configuration in separate program sections without proper resource deallocation
  • Importing multiple programs or includes that reference the same physical digital input independently

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Search the entire project for all references to the problematic digital input using WorkVisual search functionality
  2. 2Review all INTERRUPT DECL statements and input declarations to identify duplicate assignments
  3. 3Consolidate multiple references to the same digital input into a single declaration and condition block
  4. 4Implement a centralized input handling routine that manages all digital input monitoring through one interface
  5. 5Verify program structure in the KRL source to ensure no included files or function modules duplicate input assignments
  6. 6Compile and test the cleaned program to confirm the digital input is only assigned once per cycle
