KUKA Robot KRC0602 - Invalid handle

Invalid handle

This alarm indicates that a CWRITE or CREAD instruction in the robot program references a file handle that does not exist, has not been properly opened, or has been closed. The KRC controller cannot perform the requested file I/O operation because the handle parameter is invalid or out of scope.

Common Causes

  • File handle was never opened with COPEN before attempting CREAD or CWRITE
  • File handle was closed with CCLOSE prior to the CREAD or CWRITE command
  • Incorrect handle variable passed to CREAD or CWRITE (null, undefined, or wrong data type)
  • Handle variable name misspelled or not declared in the program scope
  • Handle from a previous program execution persists but is no longer valid in the current context

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify that COPEN is called before any CREAD or CWRITE operations using the same handle variable
  2. 2Confirm the handle variable is properly declared as type HANDLE in the program declaration section
  3. 3Check that the handle variable name matches exactly between COPEN, CREAD/CWRITE, and CCLOSE statements
  4. 4Ensure CCLOSE is not called prematurely before all intended read/write operations are complete
  5. 5Review the program logic to confirm file operations occur in correct sequence without conditional branches that skip COPEN
  6. 6Clear any retained variables and reload the program, then test the file I/O sequence again
