KRC0605

KUKA Robot KRC0605 - Channel cannot be opened/closed

Channel cannot be opened/closed

The OPEN or CLOSE command has failed to establish or terminate a SINEC H1 channel connection. This typically indicates a communication layer issue or incompatible channel configuration that prevents proper channel state transitions on the KRC controller.

Common Causes

  • SINEC H1 interface hardware not properly initialized or not installed in the KRC4 control cabinet
  • Channel configuration parameters in $CUSTOM.DAT do not match physical network topology or device addressing
  • Conflicting channel ownership where another KRL program or system process holds exclusive access to the channel
  • Communication protocol stack error due to corrupted SINEC H1 driver or firmware mismatch
  • Network cable disconnection or SINEC H1 coupler hardware malfunction preventing channel establishment

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify SINEC H1 interface card is physically installed and detected by the KRC4 system via WorkVisual hardware configuration
  2. 2Check the $CUSTOM.DAT file for correct SINEC H1 channel parameters including node ID, baud rate, and timeout settings
  3. 3Confirm no other KRL programs or background tasks have opened exclusive locks on the target SINEC H1 channel
  4. 4Review KRC4 system diagnostics log for SINEC H1 driver initialization errors and firmware version compatibility
  5. 5Inspect physical SINEC H1 network cabling connections and test with a known working SINEC H1 device
  6. 6Perform a controlled system reset of SINEC H1 stack by stopping all programs, closing channels, and restarting the KRC4 controller
