KUKA Robot KRC0535 - Key not assigned

Key not assigned

An unassigned softkey or function key has been pressed during prompted operation on the KUKA smartPAD. This alarm prevents execution of undefined key commands that could cause unintended robot motion or program flow disruption. The operator must use only configured keys to maintain safe and predictable system behavior.

Common Causes

  • Softkey definition missing in the active teach pendant configuration file
  • Function key not mapped in the KRC4 control system softkey assignment table
  • User attempting to use a key that has been disabled in SafeOperation mode
  • Corrupted or incomplete smartPAD layout file preventing key recognition
  • Custom user interface customization incomplete without proper key binding configuration

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the KUKA smartPAD display to identify which specific key was pressed when the alarm occurred
  2. 2Review the active softkey configuration in WorkVisual under the Smartpad editor to verify key assignments
  3. 3Reload the smartPAD layout file through the control system menu to refresh key definitions
  4. 4Verify that the pressed key is defined within the current program mode or application context
  5. 5Access the KRC4 configuration interface and reassign the function key to the appropriate command or disable prompting operation mode
  6. 6If using custom user interface modifications, regenerate and deploy the smartPAD configuration through WorkVisual build and transfer process
