KUKA Robot KRC0441 - PASSIVE STOP

PASSIVE STOP

A passive operator control unit (KUKA smartPAD or external pendant) has initiated a stop command while a process was actively executing. This alarm indicates the stop originated from a non-primary control input device rather than the main teach pendant or control interface. The message appears only when an active motion or program execution has been interrupted by this passive device action.

Common Causes

  • Accidental contact with stop button on secondary or passive pendant device during program execution
  • External safety circuit activation triggering passive stop through hardwired safety relay
  • Wireless pendant loss of signal during active motion causing automatic passive stop engagement
  • Multiple control units active simultaneously with secondary unit issuing stop command
  • Safety gate or interlock switch activation on peripheral control station during robot operation

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify which passive operator control unit triggered the stop by checking the active device indicator on KUKA smartPAD display
  2. 2Inspect all secondary pendant buttons and safety switches for physical obstruction, damage, or unintended activation
  3. 3Review the KRC4 system logs in WorkVisual to identify the exact timestamp and source of the passive stop signal
  4. 4Test wireless pendant connectivity if applicable by checking signal strength indicator and performing range test
  5. 5Clear the alarm using the KUKA smartPAD and restart the program from the beginning or last safe checkpoint
  6. 6If issue persists, disable non-essential passive control units or reconfigure device hierarchy in the SafeOperation settings
