KUKA Robot KRC0443 - PROCESS ACTIVE

PROCESS ACTIVE

This alarm indicates that a command or motion instruction was initiated while another process was already executing on the KUKA KRC controller. The controller prevents overlapping or conflicting commands from running simultaneously to maintain safe and predictable robot behavior. This typically occurs when movement commands, I/O operations, or other blocking functions are triggered before the previous operation has completed.

Common Causes

  • Attempting to start a new motion command while a previous motion is still in progress
  • Issuing conflicting I/O or process commands without waiting for the active command to finish
  • Multiple tasks or programs attempting to control the robot simultaneously without proper synchronization
  • Missing or incorrect WAIT statements in the KRL program between sequential commands
  • Interrupting or triggering new commands from the teach pendant while an automated program is running

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Review the KRL program logic to identify which commands are executing when the alarm occurs and verify proper sequencing
  2. 2Add appropriate WAIT or synchronization instructions between sequential motion and process commands to ensure each operation completes before the next begins
  3. 3Check for multiple program instances or concurrent task execution that may be conflicting; ensure only one primary control task is active
  4. 4Verify that all motion commands include proper end-of-move confirmations and use appropriate blocking/non-blocking function calls
  5. 5Examine any interrupt handlers, background tasks, or external trigger inputs that might be initiating unexpected commands during active processes
  6. 6Clear the alarm, restart the program with corrected timing and synchronization logic, and verify operation in a safe test environment
