KUKA Robot KRC0427 - DEADMAN SWITCH REQUIRED

DEADMAN SWITCH REQUIRED

Movement was attempted in teach mode T1 or T2 using the jog keys without the safety deadman switch being actively pressed. This critical SafeOperation requirement ensures operator awareness and immediate stop capability during manual robot control in low-speed teach modes.

Common Causes

  • Operator released the deadman switch on the KUKA smartPAD before completing jog command input
  • Deadman switch on teach pendant is mechanically stuck or not functioning properly
  • Automatic jog command was triggered by KRL program without proper SafeOperation deadman signal integration
  • Mode selector switch was not in correct T1 or T2 position when movement was attempted
  • SafeOperation configuration in WorkVisual does not properly monitor deadman switch state

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Press and hold the deadman switch on the KUKA smartPAD throughout the entire jog sequence in teach mode
  2. 2Verify the teach pendant mode selector is set to T1 or T2 and not in Automatic mode before attempting manual jog
  3. 3Test the deadman switch responsiveness by checking the Safety Status page in KUKA smartPAD Diagnosis menu for deadman state
  4. 4If deadman switch does not respond or shows persistent faults, clean contacts and test for mechanical binding
  5. 5Review the SafeOperation configuration in WorkVisual to ensure deadman switch monitoring is properly enabled for teach modes
  6. 6If using KRL program-based jog commands, verify the code includes proper SafeOperation deadman signal checks before executing motion
