KUKA Robot KRC0433 - STOP DUE TO OPERATING MODE CHANGE

STOP DUE TO OPERATING MODE CHANGE

This alarm indicates that all active motion and process operations have been terminated due to a change in the robot's operating mode. The KRC controller implements this safety mechanism to ensure controlled transitions between different operational states such as T1 (teach), T2 (automatic), and manual modes. When a mode change is detected, the controller performs an emergency stop on all running programs to prevent unpredictable behavior.

Common Causes

  • Operator switched the mode selector on the teach pendant from one position to another while a program was executing
  • Mode change command issued via KCP (KUKA Control Panel) during active robot motion or program execution
  • External mode selection signal changed state while processes were active
  • Automatic mode transition triggered by system logic while program was running
  • Hardware malfunction or intermittent contact on mode selector switch causing false mode change detection

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify the current operating mode on the teach pendant and confirm it matches the intended mode for your operation
  2. 2Check the mode selector switch on the KCP for proper positioning and mechanical integrity; ensure it is not loose or damaged
  3. 3Review the program execution sequence to identify if mode changes are being issued programmatically at inappropriate times
  4. 4Inspect all external mode control signals and wiring connections for continuity and proper voltage levels
  5. 5Clear the alarm by pressing the acknowledge button on the teach pendant and allow the system to stabilize before resuming operations
  6. 6If the alarm persists, perform a system reset and test mode transitions while monitoring the diagnostic data in the KRC controller to identify potential hardware faults
