KRC0425

KUKA Robot KRC0425 - AXIS <axis number> INHIBITED

AXIS <axis number> INHIBITED

The controller prevented motion of the specified axis in a particular direction because a software limit switch inhibition is active. This safety feature in the KRC4 system blocks movement that would violate configured axis boundaries or workspace restrictions.

Common Causes

  • Software limit switch boundary was configured to inhibit motion in the attempted direction via $AXIS_MIN_LIMIT or $AXIS_MAX_LIMIT
  • Axis is currently positioned at or beyond the software limit boundary in the inhibited direction
  • Manipulator orientation or configuration-dependent workspace constraints are preventing motion in that direction
  • WorkVisual configuration contains active inhibit flags in the axis-specific machine data parameters
  • Tool or workpiece collision avoidance boundary was set to block movement in the attempted direction

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Check the current axis position displayed on KUKA smartPAD and compare against the configured $AXIS_MIN_LIMIT and $AXIS_MAX_LIMIT values
  2. 2Access WorkVisual and review the axis limit configuration to determine if boundaries are correctly set for your application
  3. 3Attempt to move the axis in the opposite direction first to confirm the axis is responsive and not mechanically stuck
  4. 4Verify in WorkVisual that no inhibit flags are set in the axis-specific safety data or configuration-dependent parameters
  5. 5If limits are correctly configured but motion is still blocked, perform a full power cycle of the KRC4 controller and retry
  6. 6Consult the machine documentation to confirm expected axis travel limits and adjust software limits in WorkVisual if they are incorrect for your KUKA model
