KRC0351

KUKA Robot KRC0351 - ACKN. WATCHDOG POWER MODULE <number>

ACKN. WATCHDOG POWER MODULE <number>

The watchdog timer on the power module has failed to receive a trigger signal from the DSE within the required 0.125 millisecond interval, indicating loss of real-time synchronization with the drive system. This is a critical fault affecting power distribution to the robot drives.

Common Causes

  • DSE unit has crashed or become unresponsive preventing watchdog trigger transmission
  • Fiber optic or high-speed serial connection between DSE and power module is disconnected or degraded
  • Power module watchdog timer circuit has degraded reducing its sensitivity or response capability
  • KRC4 real-time kernel has suffered a fatal error preventing DSE task execution and watchdog triggering
  • Firmware bug or memory corruption in the DSE causing the watchdog trigger routine to be skipped

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Immediately de-energize the robot system by switching the main disconnect to the OFF position
  2. 2Visually inspect the DSE to power module communication cable for physical damage, kinks, or loose connectors
  3. 3Check that the power module indicator lights show normal status after a 60 second power-off cooldown period
  4. 4Verify the DSE unit responds to basic commands by observing LED status indicators and listening for relay clicks when power is re-applied
  5. 5Download the latest KRC4 firmware and DSE firmware using WorkVisual and perform a complete system reload
  6. 6If the watchdog alarm recurs immediately, the power module must be replaced and the complete drive system must be re-calibrated by a KUKA technician
