KRC0355

KUKA Robot KRC0355 - ACKN. FAILURE OF HEAT SINK TEMPERATURE SENSOR <axis number>

ACKN. FAILURE OF HEAT SINK TEMPERATURE SENSOR <axis number>

This alarm indicates that the heat sink temperature sensor for the specified axis has failed or lost communication with the KRC controller. The controller cannot acknowledge a valid temperature reading from the thermal monitoring sensor on the motor's heat sink, which is critical for preventing thermal damage to the axis drive electronics. This is a critical safety fault that prevents axis motion until resolved.

Common Causes

  • Damaged or disconnected temperature sensor wiring at the motor heat sink connector
  • Corroded or oxidized sensor connector pins preventing proper electrical contact
  • Faulty temperature sensor element (thermistor or RTD) that has degraded or failed
  • Broken sensor cable between the heat sink and the servo drive module
  • Defective servo drive module or amplifier with malfunctioning sensor input circuitry

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Note the specific axis number from the alarm message and power down the robot controller safely
  2. 2Visually inspect the temperature sensor connector at the motor heat sink for corrosion, looseness, or physical damage; reseat the connector firmly if loose
  3. 3Measure continuity and resistance of the temperature sensor using a multimeter according to KUKA specifications for that sensor type
  4. 4Check the sensor cable routing for pinch points, cuts, or abrasion damage along the entire length from motor to servo drive
  5. 5Clean all connector pins with a soft brush or compressed air and apply a thin layer of dielectric grease to improve contact reliability
  6. 6If no physical damage is found, replace the temperature sensor unit and perform a controller reset; if alarm persists, replace the servo drive module for that axis
