KRC0329

KUKA Robot KRC0329 - ACKN. TRANSMISSION ERROR DSE RDW <DSE number>

ACKN. TRANSMISSION ERROR DSE RDW <DSE number>

This alarm indicates a communication transmission error between the RDW (Resolver/Encoder Interface Module) and DSE (Drive Supply Electronics) unit, typically caused by an open circuit in the serial data connection. The RDW cannot establish or maintain acknowledged handshake communication with the specified DSE module, preventing proper axis drive control and feedback signal processing.

Common Causes

  • Broken or loose fiber optic cable connection between RDW and DSE
  • Damaged RDW or DSE communication port/connector
  • Defective fiber optic coupler or LED transmitter in DSE
  • Corrupted firmware in RDW or DSE module requiring reinitialization
  • Intermittent connection due to vibration or thermal cycling causing micro-fractures in optical cable

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Verify all fiber optic cables connecting RDW to the specified DSE are fully seated and undamaged; inspect for kinks, stress points, or visible breaks
  2. 2Power cycle the robot controller completely (full power down for 30 seconds minimum) to reset DSE communication protocol
  3. 3Check DSE module LED indicators for proper illumination; if LED is dark, the DSE may have failed and require replacement
  4. 4Access KRC diagnostics menu to verify DSE module is detected and properly configured in the axis configuration
  5. 5Disconnect and reconnect all fiber optic connectors while controller is powered down, ensuring proper alignment and seating
  6. 6If alarm persists after all connections verified, replace the RDW or DSE module as indicated by service diagnostics, as internal optical components may be defective
