KUKA Robot KRC0138 - DSE <DSE number 14> NOT AVAILABLE

DSE <DSE number 14> NOT AVAILABLE

A Digital Servo Extension (DSE) module is not physically inserted into the MFC (Multi-Functional Component) controller, yet the KRC4 system has allocated robot axes to this missing DSE. The system cannot communicate with the DSE hardware, preventing proper axis control and initialization.

Common Causes

  • DSE module was removed or became unseated from the MFC during maintenance or power cycling
  • DSE slot connector is loose or has poor electrical contact due to vibration or thermal cycling
  • Incorrect DSE allocation in WorkVisual configuration does not match actual hardware installed
  • DSE firmware update or replacement was performed but hardware was not fully reseated
  • MFC backplane connector pin damage or contamination preventing proper DSE detection signal

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power off the KRC4 controller completely and verify the emergency stop is engaged before any maintenance
  2. 2Visually inspect the DSE slot on the MFC to confirm the DSE module is physically present and fully inserted until the retention clips are secure
  3. 3Power on the system and check the MFC status LEDs to confirm the DSE is recognized by the controller
  4. 4If DSE is present but alarm persists, power down and reseat the DSE by removing and reinserting it firmly into the slot
  5. 5Open WorkVisual and verify the axis allocation configuration matches the physical DSE slot where the module is installed
  6. 6If problem continues after reseating, replace the DSE module and reconfigure its allocation in WorkVisual, then perform a controlled restart
