KRC0028

KUKA Robot KRC0028 - TRANSMISSION ERROR DSE RDW **

TRANSMISSION ERROR DSE RDW **

This alarm indicates a communication transmission error or open circuit between the RDW (Roboter-Daten-Wartung/Robot Data Maintenance) module and the DSE (Digitale Sicherheitseinheit/Digital Safety Unit) in the KUKA KRC controller. The safety circuit is broken, preventing proper data exchange between the robot control system and the safety monitoring module, which halts robot operation to prevent unsafe conditions.

Common Causes

  • Damaged or loose connector between RDW and DSE modules
  • Broken or corroded wiring in the RDW-DSE communication cable
  • Faulty RDW module requiring replacement
  • Defective DSE module or safety relay board
  • Poor electrical contact or oxidation at connector pins

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power down the KRC controller completely and wait 30 seconds before power-on reset
  2. 2Inspect the physical connectors between RDW and DSE modules for loose connections, corrosion, or bent pins
  3. 3Reseat both connectors firmly and ensure they are fully engaged with audible click feedback
  4. 4Visually inspect the RDW-DSE communication cable for visible damage, kinks, or exposed wires
  5. 5Use a multimeter to verify continuity on all pins in the RDW-DSE connector in powered-down state
  6. 6If issue persists, replace the communication cable first, then test; if still unresolved, contact KUKA service for RDW or DSE module replacement
