KUKA Robot KRC0027 - SYNCHRONIZATION ERROR WITH DSE **

SYNCHRONIZATION ERROR WITH DSE **

Synchronization Error with DSE indicates that the Distributed Servo Electronics module has not received the feed command value from the KRC4 master controller within a single interpolation cycle during active servo control. This communication breakdown prevents the robot from executing coordinated motion and stops all active movement immediately.

Common Causes

  • Real-time Ethernet fieldbus connection between KRC4 and DSE module has degraded due to cable damage, connector corrosion, or intermittent contact
  • DSE module firmware version is incompatible or older than the KRC4 software version and lacks proper command protocol support
  • KRC4 controller CPU is overloaded with excessive background tasks or third-party software extensions causing periodic missed interpolation cycle deadlines
  • Shielded Ethernet cable connecting master controller to DSE is routed too close to high-power motor drives or AC interference source causing signal corruption
  • DSE module configuration parameters in WorkVisual are incorrect or do not match the actual hardware topology and connected axis count

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Immediately stop robot operation and check the status LEDs on the DSE module and KRC4 controller to confirm Ethernet link is established and active
  2. 2Inspect the shielded Ethernet cable between KRC4 controller and DSE module for visible damage, kinks, or crushing and reseat both RJ45 connectors firmly
  3. 3Access KUKA smartPAD Maintenance menu and verify that the DSE module is detected and reporting correct module firmware version number
  4. 4In WorkVisual, open the I/O and fieldbus configuration and confirm that the DSE communication parameters match the actual physical connection topology
  5. 5Verify in WorkVisual that no excessive KRL background tasks or third-party software is consuming CPU resources and reducing real-time performance of interpolation cycles
  6. 6If synchronization errors continue after cable inspection and parameter verification, perform a complete DSE firmware update using WorkVisual or contact KUKA service for module diagnostics
