KUKA Robot KRC0034 - TEPRO INACTIVE

TEPRO INACTIVE

The TEPRO (KUKA's thermal protection system) monitoring signal from the Safety Block Controller (SBC) has ceased communication with the KRC controller. This alarm indicates a loss of the safety heartbeat signal that continuously validates the thermal protection subsystem is functioning and monitoring robot joint temperatures.

Common Causes

  • Broken or disconnected communication cable between SBC and KRC controller
  • SBC power supply failure or insufficient power delivery
  • Corrupted or outdated SBC firmware preventing signal transmission
  • Faulty network interface card or communication module in either SBC or KRC
  • SBC processor malfunction or internal hardware failure

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power cycle the robot controller and SBC simultaneously, waiting 30 seconds between shutdown and restart
  2. 2Inspect all physical connections between the SBC and KRC controller, ensuring connectors are fully seated and cables are undamaged
  3. 3Verify SBC LED status indicators show normal operation; consult SBC documentation for proper LED states
  4. 4Check SBC firmware version through the KRC diagnostics menu and update to the latest compatible version if available
  5. 5Test communication by performing a controller self-test via the teach pendant diagnostics to confirm SBC detection
  6. 6If alarm persists, replace the SBC communication cable with a verified working cable, or contact KUKA service for SBC hardware replacement
