KRC0041

KUKA Robot KRC0041 - HEAT SINK TEMPERATURE **

HEAT SINK TEMPERATURE **

The thermostatic switch on the servo output stage heat sinks has been activated due to excessive transistor temperature. This thermal protection mechanism prevents permanent damage to the power amplifier output stage by shutting down the axis when heat dissipation capacity is exceeded.

Common Causes

  • Continuous high-current operation without adequate cooling airflow through the control cabinet
  • Blocked or contaminated heat sink fins reducing thermal transfer efficiency
  • Defective cooling fan in the KRC control cabinet not operating at full speed
  • Prolonged repetitive heavy-load movements causing cumulative heat buildup in transistors
  • Ambient temperature in robot work cell exceeds maximum rated operating temperature specification

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Power down the robot immediately and allow the servo output stage to cool for minimum 30 minutes before restart
  2. 2Verify control cabinet cooling fan is running and check for audible noise or vibration anomalies
  3. 3Inspect heat sink fins visually for dust accumulation, oil residue, or mechanical blockage and clean with compressed air
  4. 4Confirm ambient temperature around the KRC control cabinet is within KUKA specification limits using a thermal meter
  5. 5Review robot program cycle time and load profile in WorkVisual to identify extended high-current axis movements
  6. 6Contact KUKA service if alarm persists after cooling and cleaning, as internal transistor thermal sensor may require replacement
