HEIDENHAIN 126-0118 - PLC output for switch-off is improperly configured

PLC output for switch-off is improperly configured

Automatic machine power-down after control shutdown is enabled, yet no PLC output was configured for this task in either the configuration file or the IOC file. The function therefore has no actuator to drive.

Root Cause Summary

This alarm specifically indicates that a PLC output designated for safety-critical switch-off functionality has not been properly declared in the control's configuration. The TNC requires explicit configuration of outputs used for emergency stop, power disconnect, or other safety shutdown functions through machine parameters or the SIK.SYS file. The PLC program references an output for switch-off purposes, but the system configuration does not recognize it as a valid, configured output.

Safety

  • Refer to Heidenhain service manual
  • Ensure qualified technician performs repairs

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

    Enter MOD function

Press MOD key, enter password if required, and navigate to machine parameters section

Changing machine parameters may affect machine safety functions. Document original values before making changes.

  2. 2

    Check MP7200

Locate MP7200 (Number of digital outputs) and verify the value matches or exceeds the highest output number used in your PLC program for switch-off functions

  3. 3

    Configure MP7210.x

Find the specific MP7210.x entry corresponding to the output number used for switch-off (x = output number). Configure the output with proper assignment to the physical hardware address and output type

MP7210 uses format: output number, hardware address, output type (0=standard, 1=safety). For safety switch-off functions, ensure proper type is set.

  4. 4

    Cycle power

After saving parameters, perform a complete power cycle of the control (not just RESET) to ensure new output configuration is loaded into the PLC runtime

DIY Feasiblehigh confidence

Call a technician if:

  • ·PLC programming modifications required
  • ·Electrical hardware changes needed
  • ·Safety system integration required

Prevention

  • Always configure complete signal chain when enabling automatic functions
  • Document I/O assignments during commissioning
  • Test automatic shutdown functions during setup

Common Mistakes

  • Enabling automatic switch-off without defining output
  • Mismatched addresses between CFG and IOC files
  • Forgetting to restart control after configuration changes
