Safety
Causes and Fixes
Power off the machine and lock out. Visually inspect the probe cable from the spindle nose through the rotary union for wear, cuts, or disconnection.
Ensure machine is fully powered down and locked out before inspection
Check all connectors at the probe body, rotary union, and control cabinet for loose pins, corrosion, or damage. Reseat all connections firmly.
Using a multimeter, perform a continuity test on the probe signal wires from the probe battery/transmitter through to the receiver module with spindle stationary.
Rotate the spindle slowly by hand while monitoring continuity to detect intermittent breaks. Replace cable assembly if any intermittent or open circuit is found.
Ensure spindle brake is released before manual rotation
