Fanuc 594 - Spindle pallet error

SPINDLE PALLET ERROR

Fanuc spindle alarm 594: SPINDLE PALLET ERROR. The spindle drive or spindle motor has detected a fault condition that requires diagnosis before spindle operation can resume.

Root Cause Summary

Alarm 594 SPINDLE PALLET ERROR indicates a mismatch or communication failure between the spindle system and the automatic pallet changer (APC) position sensors. This alarm typically occurs when the spindle orientation, pallet clamp status, or position feedback signals do not match the expected conditions for safe operation during tool change or pallet change sequences.

Safety

  • Verify corrected program or parameters before resuming machining

Causes and Fixes

  1. 1

Access the PMC diagnostics (PMCDGN screen) and check the pallet clamp confirmation signals for table/pallet position sensors (typically G addresses). Verify both CLAMP and UNCLAMP signals are responding correctly.

  2. 2

Manually inspect the pallet clamp mechanism for physical obstructions, debris, or mechanical damage that could prevent full engagement or disengagement.

Ensure machine is in emergency stop and hydraulic pressure is released before physical inspection

  3. 3

Check proximity sensors or limit switches on the pallet clamp cylinder for proper mounting distance (typically 1-2mm gap), loose mounting, or damage. Clean sensor faces and verify LED indicators are functioning.

  4. 4

With machine in single block mode, manually activate the pallet clamp/unclamp solenoids from PMC diagnostics or manual mode and verify sensors change state appropriately. Replace faulty sensors if no state change occurs.

Use extreme caution when manually activating hydraulic or pneumatic systems
