Alarm 586 indicates the spindle tool offset compensation system has detected an error during tool change or spindle positioning. This typically occurs when the tool offset data is corrupted, the offset measurement system fails, or there's a mismatch between commanded and actual tool geometry compensation values.
Safety
Causes and Fixes
Access the tool offset table (OFFSET/SETTING screen) and verify all geometry and wear offset values for the active tool number are within reasonable limits (typically ±999.999mm).
Check for abnormal characters, blank values, or extremely large numbers in the H-code offset registers. Note the tool number that was active when alarm occurred.
Clear the suspect offset values and re-enter known good values, or restore from a backup if available. Reset alarm and test with manual tool change.
Record original values before clearing in case data recovery is needed
If problem persists, perform parameter backup, initialize offset data (clear all), then re-enter offsets systematically starting with T1.
This will erase all tool offsets - ensure you have documented values
